FAQs

General Questions

What makes Tuxedo Landscaping different from other landscaping companies in Southern New Hampshire?

We’re a quality-first company, not a quantity-first one. We intentionally limit how many properties we take on so our crews can give each site the attention it deserves. We’re not the cheapest option—and we’re upfront about that—but we are reliable, consistent, and detail-oriented. Most of our clients stay with us for years because they know the work will be done right every time.

What’s the core mission behind Tuxedo Landscaping?

Our mission is to deliver consistently high-quality landscaping, combining reliable service with attention to detail for every customer. We aim to ensure every property we care for looks clean, healthy, and well-maintained throughout the season. Above all, customer satisfaction is our top priority.

Are you licensed and insured in New Hampshire?

Yes. We’re fully licensed with the State of New Hampshire and carry workers’ compensation, general liability, and commercial auto insurance.

How do I request a landscaping estimate?

You can call or submit a request through our website. From there, we’ll schedule a walkthrough of the property, talk through your goals, and provide clear options and pricing.

Who do you typically work with—residential or commercial clients?

We work with both residential and commercial clients, but our specialty is full-service landscape maintenance. That includes homeowners, HOAs, industrial properties, and small privately owned commercial businesses. We’re not typically a one-off mowing company—we’re looking for long-term maintenance relationships.

What areas do you serve in Southern New Hampshire?

We primarily serve Dover and surrounding towns. This includes Barrington, Dover, Durham, Epping, Lee, Madbury, Northwood, Nottingham, Gilmanton, Rochester, Somersworth, and Strafford. Don’t see your town listed? Reach out—we may still be able to help.

Are there unique landscaping challenges in Southern New Hampshire?

Definitely. Salt damage from roads and parking lots is one of the biggest issues we see—especially within 6–10 feet of pavement. We also deal with heavy snow loads, drainage issues, and damage from moles and voles. While we don’t remove pests, we regularly repair the damage they cause.

Can professional landscaping increase property value?

Yes—services like lawn installations, planting beds, irrigation, and hardscaping can significantly increase curb appeal and long-term property value.

How do you ensure quality control?

We inspect properties every week and follow up on crew work. If something isn’t right, we fix it—often before the customer even notices. If there’s ever an issue, we make it right. Keeping customers happy is always our top priority.

Landscape Maintenance

What’s included in your landscape maintenance services?

Our maintenance services include weekly mowing, trimming, edging, weed control, debris removal, and general upkeep of lawn and landscape beds. All debris is hauled off-site.

What are the differences between your Starter, Basic, Premier, and Elite maintenance packages?

Our packages are tiered based on service level and property needs. During the initial walkthrough, we’ll explain what’s included in each option and help you choose the right fit. You can learn more about our packages here: https://www.tuxedolandscaping.com/maintenance/

What time of day will your crew arrive?

Our mowing routes typically start between 7:30–8:00 a.m. You’ll generally see us around the same time each week for consistency. Special timing requests can be accommodated when possible.

What happens if weather delays my scheduled service?

If weather causes delays, we adjust the schedule and service your property as soon as conditions allow.

Do you offer spring and fall cleanups?

Yes. Spring cleanups are typically done in April, and fall cleanups in November. These are more intensive, one-time services compared to weekly maintenance.

What add-on services do most maintenance clients choose?

Mulching, pruning, aeration, overseeding, and irrigation maintenance are the most common add-ons.

Plantings & Lawn Installations

How do you start a planting or lawn installation project?

We begin with a site visit to measure, assess soil conditions, and talk through goals. For lawns, we may remove existing material, bring in topsoil, seed or sod, and provide detailed care instructions. We also check in after installation and handle touch-ups if needed.

What types of grass do you install?

We install blends based on how much maintenance the homeowner wants to put in. Options include Kentucky bluegrass, rye, and fescue blends that hold up well in New England weather.

Do you offer native or low-maintenance plants?

Yes! We often recommend perennials and low-maintenance plantings that add lasting color without requiring excessive upkeep. Every plant we install is carefully handpicked from local nurseries to ensure the highest quality.

When is the best time to install lawns or plants?

Lawns are best installed in September or spring. Plantings are typically planned in spring through summer, with some trees installed in fall.

Do you install privacy trees or hedges?

Yes. Arborvitae and other privacy plantings are common for residential and commercial properties.

Hardscape & Outdoor Features

What hardscape services do you offer?

We install patios, walkways, fire pits, necessary retaining walls, and more. Our focus is on functionality, safety, and long-term durability.

What materials do you use for hardscaping?

We primarily use high-quality pavers like Cambridge and natural stone products.

Do I need permits for hardscape projects?

Some projects require permits. We’ll provide you with what’s needed and guide you through the permit filing process.

Can hardscaping improve drainage issues?

Yes. Properly designed hardscapes can redirect water and help solve drainage problems.

Snow & Ice Management

Do you offer residential and commercial snow removal?

Yes. We provide snow and ice management for residential homes, commercial properties, private roads, and HOAs.

When do you plow after a snowfall?

Residential service typically starts at 2 inches. Commercial properties are serviced at 1 inch for safety. Large storms may require multiple passes.

Do you provide ice control services?

Yes. We offer salting, sanding, and de-icing as needed, including on-call service.

Are snow contracts seasonal or per-service?

Residential snow removal is per service. Commercial contracts are typically seasonal with monthly billing.

What’s included in your holiday lighting service?

We handle design, installation, maintenance, removal, and storage. Lights are leased, so you pay the same price each year.

When should I book holiday lighting?

We recommend booking in early fall. Installations typically take place in November, with lights turned on around Thanksgiving and removed after New Year’s—or whenever requested.

Do you offer custom holiday lighting designs?

Yes. We provide custom designs for both residential and commercial properties, including LED and specialty lighting.

Is holiday lighting safe for my home and landscaping?

Yes. All lighting is professionally installed, timer-controlled, and non-permanent.
